I have made two scarves with Red Heart Boutique Sashay yarn.  I had all kinds of problems and finally got to where I could work with the yarn.
Several months ago, I found some Loops and Thread Fabulous Yarn in Christmas colors. There was a really nice scarf I liked near the yarn.  So I purchases 2 skeins.
Since then, I have struggled trying recreating the scarf since I could not locate the pattern.
Well yesterday I was reading through my e-mail.  I was reading about problems that crocheters were having with Sashay yarn.   One of the responses said just use a large hook and crochet with the yarn as it comes off the ball.  Do not worry about finding the track at the top of the yarn.   I thought I can do this with the Fabulous yarn.
So I got out my "P" hook (11.5 mm) hook and did just that.  WHAT DO YOU KNOW!  I came up with the exact same scarf that I had seen in the store.
I wish I could have found this out earlier.  Note to Michael's Stores.  If you are going to display a hand craft yarn item, please have a copy of a pattern available.

Fall's for Shawl

I decided to "frog" the Blessed Mother Shawl.  It is a graph and I could not get the graph large enough to read so I could follow it.

There is a new crochet magazine at Wal-mart called Crochet 1-2-3.  I purchased the magazine and love the Fall's for Shawl, shawl.  I went ahead and ordered the yarn from Wal-mart online and it came in this week.  The shawl is worked in three pieces.  I finished the first piece no problem.  The second or middle piece is done in two colors as stripes.  Man am I having problems.  I have never before had to count stitches on every row.  On this one I do or I will miss stitches.

This shawl better turn out wonderful for all the effort I am putting into it.

I finally finished this shawl.  Started sewing the sides together and the center fell apart so I just frogged it

Blessed Mother shawl

I have started work on a shawl called "Blessed Mother" by Kim Guzman.  I am making it with I Love this Yarn Sport weight and a G hook.  Let's see how it turns out.

Today we are flying to St Louis to see the grandkids and bring to visit us for a week or so. I will get some good crocheting time in the next couple of days.

Sashay

Alright, I swore I would not work with Red Heart Boutique Sashay again.  But what did I find Friday in Walmart?  Purple tone Sashay.  The color was called boogie. I purchased and tried working with it again.  I had a much easier time with it.  I made a scarf and used it on my red floppy straw hat as a decoration.

It was really simple.  Ch 6, turn, sk 1ch. sc in each ch across. 5 sc .  ch1 turn and repeat until desired length.

After this I went to work on a soap saver for a small soap that you get in hotels.  Here is a picture of it.
20 fsc. join with sl st. dc in next *sc ch 1sk 1 dc in next sc*. repeat **  join with sl st. sc in each st across. join with sl st.  hdc in each sc across.  sl with first hdc continue one row sc followed by one row of hdc.

I finished Claudia Taylor's Rainbow Sock Monkey this week.  I think it turned out well.  I am a horrible sewer so the muzzle looks crooked.
In two weeks I am starting a crochet along with Kim Guzman.  I want to set aside some time to practice the new stitches that are being used.
In the time being I will finish up the 50, yes I said 50, watch caps that I can crocheting for gift bags at a Veterans Christmas Party.  The veterans are from local nursing homes. I already have 42 completed.

Sock Monkey

This is my blog about what crochet projects I am currently working on.
I usually have more than one project going on at once.
I am currently working on a rainbow sock monkey for Claudia Taylor's 1st Birthday.  It needs to be done by Oct 6 so I have plenty of time.
